Terms of service

1. Acceptance
VoidNote is provided by Quantum Encoding Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16575953), registered office 33 Oxford Street, Coalville, LE67 3GS, United Kingdom. By using VoidNote, with or without an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm you meet this requirement.
3. Your account
An account is optional. You can create notes without one. An account is needed for longer-lived notes, streams, the file vault, teams and API keys.
You are responsible for keeping your password safe. We generate your password at registration — save it immediately. If you did not provide an email address, there is no recovery mechanism.
Do not share your account credentials. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
4. Notes and encryption
Notes are encrypted on your device before they are sent to us, and we store them without their key. In a /n/…#key link the key never reaches our servers. Older /note/… links are decrypted by our server at the moment they are opened (see How it works). You accept that:
- • Notes are permanently deleted when they reach their view limit or expire — at most 7 days after creation without an account, 30 days with one.
- • We cannot recover a destroyed note, a lost link, or a forgotten note password under any circumstances.
- • The share link contains the decryption key — treat it as the secret itself.
- • Titles on older notes are stored in plain text. Do not put sensitive information in titles.
5. Price
VoidNote is free to use. We do not take payments at the moment, and there is nothing to buy on the website or in the apps.
6. Prohibited uses
You must not use VoidNote to:
- • Share illegal content, malware, or content that facilitates harm to others
- • Harass, threaten, defraud or phish anyone
- • Violate the intellectual property rights of any third party
- • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the service
- • Circumvent rate limits or access controls
- • Create accounts programmatically or in bulk without prior written consent
7. Reporting abuse
Anyone can report a VoidNote link at voidnote.net/report. We cannot read a note without its key; if a report includes the key, we may read the content to assess it. We may remove reported content and suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms.
8. Service availability
We aim for high availability but make no uptime guarantee. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time with reasonable notice. If we discontinue the service, we will give at least 30 days' notice.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
VoidNote is provided "as is". We disclaim all warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law.
We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from: note content, failed deliveries, service outages, or your use of the share URL. VoidNote is free, and our total liability to you is limited to £100.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Account deletion and termination
You can delete your account at any time in the VoidNote app or at voidnote.net/account/delete. Deletion is immediate and removes your account data as described in the privacy policy.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version, and if you have an email address on file, we will notify you. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept updated terms, stop using the service and delete your account if you have one.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring a claim in your local courts.
